30GB Web Mail Launches Into Beta: This takes the cake. Of course the 30gigs.com site is down with a mysql error. I wonder how long this one will last. Heck, I sticll haven’t filled up less than half of my GMail space (and hope never to do so!) [UPDATE] Site is back up but I notice this disclaimer “Notice: We collect personal information on this site.” Ummm… there was an uproar when Google wanted to read through email to generate ads. How do they think they can pull this off?

30 GB is just not enough, you can hardly send your whole divx collection by mail. How about 1 TB email accounts then ? http://www.mailnation.net !

They’re not Google, so they’re less than evil incarnate.

Or flip side, they’re less-well-known, so fewer people will care.

Wow, 30 gigabytes. I can understand Google offering 2.5 gig or something, they have the capacity – but for a smaller space 30 gig per USER is obvious over selling. I don’t have that much space on my computer. lol

“We collect personal information on this site.” actually could just mean that they will collect your name/email during registration.

    Privacy really is overrated.

Take Gmail: for some reason their software reading your mail to find keywords for positioning ads was different from reading your email to find keywords to filter spam.
Not to mention that all email passes as clear text through several mail servers anyway.

“How can anyone afford to do something like this?”

It’s not like they will ever need user_count x 30G of storage. How much email do you have (MB-s)?

    Exactly.

How long will it be before we see the news heading “Not to be outdone, Google has changed the ‘G’ in ‘2GB’ to a ‘T’?”

How can anyone afford to do something like this? Even a huge company like Google can only manage about 2.5Gb worth of free storage. Come on guys level with us. I very much doubt that 30Gi…
