Hi Mark
Yeah, I really liked it. I know it could do with a bit more development but I’m sure that will be in the pipeline. By the way, I’m not dead, but I have been very busy and, when I get the time, I’d like to have a chat with you about using blogs within an educational context – re your post from a couple of days ago.

Uhm, the HTML it generates is about as bad as htmlArea’s. Capitalized tags, use of FONT to set the font, and no possibility (as far as I can see) for binding custom divs or styles to particular operations. Oh… and I miss an insert image option.
I really look forward to the day there will be a standards-compliant WYSIWYG textbox editor. It would make the life of the non-techie people I help publish on the web sooo much easier, not to mention my own…
I mostly agree with you, though this is a step in the right direction. There IS an XHTML component of fckeditor which has a bug and has been turned off. However, this is open source and has a lot of possibilities. Custom divs, tags, removal of font tags etc are superficial and can be done before deployment. More on that soon.
PS: the Insert image works, though not on my install.
I’m not a coder (maybe I should become one!) but I’m looking forward to developments in this field. Frankly, I’ve been wondering since 2000 or so, when blogs started to make their appearance, that there simply is no good WYSIWYG textbox entry tool. It’s not a big problem for me personally since I know HTML, but like I said, it’s a problem for the non-techie people. Apparently the problem is not trivial. Or maybe all the techie people know HTML as well and don’t see the lack as problematic.

Cool, some of those buttons are not needed, though, I guess, like the “new page” button.
Nifty! WYSIWYG WP. Would be great for leaving comments as well…
AAAAaaarrrghhhhhh… is there no escape ?

Good stuff. I’m glad that others are concerned with the standards compliance, myself I just look forward to writing in WYSIWYG.
