This is one of my favorite wp-plugins.
Although I still don’t have enough users for it, I’m happy to have it installed in my weblog.
And the author of this wonderful plugin is Great man, always willing to help and assist with everything you ask him for.
Admittedly it’s a personnel thing. There’s just something about letting every “Tom, Dick and Harry” into the backside of my blog isn’t appealing in the slightest.
I’ve toyed with the idea of integrating the vanilla forum because of its WP-like php base and ability to use themes but haven’t as yet.
I love this plugin, I use it for several sites. I want to second Truden, the author of this plugin is amazing and always willing to help. I have found it stable, resistant to spam and for the most part has every feature I would want. Installation is a breeze and upgrading is very easy (he comes out with new versions on a regular basis). I have used in many wordpress installs I have done for clients.
I have used this forum in the past and I am toying with the idea of using it again for another application. There are some minor, VERY MINOR issues with it and they way it uses the theme on a site, but they are so small and insignificant they don’t even count. I HIGHLY recommend this forum.
I have this installed on my main site, and it works perfectly. It is upgraded regularly and I thoroughly recommend it. The new version makes the css much easier to play with, and it can be easily styled to match your theme.
I was using rs-discuss until today. but since i couldn’t get rs-discuss to be corectly formated and neither switch off the user-register-obligation, i will give this forum a try. I’m lucky, since I haven’t gotten any posts in my forum jet. My blog is all new…
I’m using it because I wanted a separate discussion area for family history on my blog site. I don’t have a lot of traffic but I like the foum’s simplicity and easy theme integration.

I would very seriously look at this if my SMF forums settings and data could be imported into it .. and even donate to it like I have with SMF

Have you ever heard of bbPress???
bbPress isn’t a WordPress plugin and even now the integration is not perfect, because User Roles don’t integrate perfectly.
I second Ajay, bbpress is pain, and it sucks, is not for people that doesn´t know what they are doing.

I can see how this could be useful, but I am much more inclined to simply host a forum on a separate URL too. Otherwise, it is a nice things to have.

I am looking for a forum which allows using permalinks in the forum-urls… does anyone know a plugin which does this?
trying to download “simple forum”. where did it go? the above link goes nowhere. thanks.
