I’ve been following WordPress Planet and WordPress.com News for a long time already, but also didn’t know about Post Status. Thanks for the link! (Of course all this is RSS based and, with recent developments, has me nervous as heck.) And a Happy Passover/Easter, too!
I’m sure RSS won’t die with the death of Google Reader, there are plenty of alternatives. With that said, I went a different route and really cut back on the amount of feeds I’m reading, which is why I really appreciate the “one site to visit” curated news approach of sites like Post Status.
Hey, James. Tomorrow I am launching WP Roll at http://wproll.com which is a curated blogroll of blogs and people covering WordPress. It would be great to hear what you think.
I really like the overall concept and the ability to filter by type, but you only feature the one most recent post from each blog. I think it would be much more useful if you featured three or five of the most recent posts. After all, some of those authors publish more than once a day.
The idea behind “Latest post X days ago” was to give users a glimpse of how fresh the content is, and the five latest posts are listed on the individual site pages.
I am planning on adding a “Planet” page that will list post titles with links from all blogs from the previous 30 days that mention “WordPress” in post content.
James began using WordPress in 2004. Being new to WordPress (and blogging in general), he quickly found the WordPress Support Forums and basically never left. James currently resides in sunny Southern California, where he enjoys bringing happiness to millions of WordPress.com users.
thanks james. i wasn’t aware of post status. looks good.
You’re welcome!

RSS isn’t going anywhere, so you have nothing to worry about except for maybe your favourite feed reader being discontinued.

Oh, I had missed that. Thanks for clarifying!
