31 People To Follow On Twitter

Please subscribe to our RSS feed for new articles. We report on Wordpress news, themes, plugins, ideas, hacks, quick fixes and everything about blogging, especially about Wordpress. You can also receive updates from this blog via email if you want that method of notification.

Twitter, the micro blogging service which allows you to submit messages that are 140 characters or less has become an excellent communications tool. A large number of people are using Twitter on a daily basis to keep up with the world as well as communicating with their friends and family members from almost any location. As luck would have it, a large number of WordPress faithful are also using Twitter. I have at times, indulged in a conversation or two with those who are making a name for themselves within the WordPress community. I use my Twitter account to pass on links to cool themes, news stories and plugins I come across via my FeedReader.

With that being said, I’d like to present you with at least 30 people to follow on Twitter. Each one of these people are doing something significant within the WordPress community and some of them are core developers such as Matt Mullenweg.

The names on the left are the user’s real name while the name on the right is their Twitter username which has been linked to their Twitter account page. This makes it easier for you to follow them.

  1. Matt Mullenweg - photomatt
  2. WordPress - WordPress This is the user account tied into the WordPress.org RSS Feed
  3. Lloyd Budd - lloydbudd
  4. Donncha O Caoimh - donncha

If you use Twitter, now would be the time to highlight your user account in the comments so we can follow you!

  1. Thanks, this is great. Wordpress really does have a great community, although I have noticed there is the ‘inner circle’.

  7. Twitter is something of an anomaly to me. I really don’t see the purpose behind it when so many of us have been using other technologies like IRC for 15+ years. Twitter, in my opinion, is nothing more than a partial extension of technologies we already have.

That said, for anyone that’s really interested in keeping on top of the seemingly constant changes within the Twitter and social media sector, you might consider following Corvida at SheGeeks.net.

  9. Hmm, I wish ryan boren was up there. My only problem is that Ms. Mayo twitters too much and it blocks out the other people.

That and I really couldn’t care less about twitter. I’m on it once every week, two weeks? Some people might say something interesting, but I doubt it.

  58. My blog is pretty personal (and somewhat Vancouver-centric), but I do have a couple of friends who are WP developers (and they are included in this list of yours) whom I follow, so you might see a couple of familiar faces on the list of people whom I follow.

I also find it somewhat self-absorbed to self-promote, but here is my Twitter in case anyone wants to follow me Raul - apparently I am the top Twitterer in Vancouver, Canada (or so says TwitterLocal.net).

My blog “Random Thoughts of a Student of the Environment” started as a Blogger blog and now is fully WordPress. So, as I told Lloyd Budd one day, “I am a WordPress boy all the way”. On my blog you can find a couple of WordPress-related links, including a live-blog of WordCamp 2008.
