WP_CodeShield searches posts and comments for <code> tags and automatically converts the contents to appropriate HTML characters.

I guess that’s a good example of the type of thing it’s made to take care of. Thanks for linking.

Re: the Golf Swing plugin, would there be any reason one could not adapt this plugin to display a list of say, cds, books or other such things for display? I would have asked at the blog in question, but comments are turned off.

The Clean Archives sounds nice, but when I tried it out, it added hundreds of extra queries and slowed down by site big time. This is death on a shared hosting environment. Shouldn’t it restrict the large number of queries to the archive page it generates, and not to every other page, as it does now?

    Peace,
    Gene

  4. Sean (16 comments.) says:

@Gene Steinberg: That’s interesting that you say that Clean Archives slowed your site down.

I’ve had over 2 dozen reports from users (on shared and dedicated hosting) of the latest 3.0 release stating it’s much faster then the previous versions.

Contact me directly so I can give you a version with some debug information so I can see if it’s something with the plugin or specific to your hosting.

Part of the code rewrite was to increase load time and less queries.

  5. Gene Steinberg (10 comments.) says:

I never used the previous version. This is the first time, and it increased the number of queries from 14 to over 600 on each and every page. That is NOT acceptable and is a nightmare on a shared hosting environment.

    Peace,
    Gene

@Gene Steinberg: After looking into it a little more, it appears you found a small bug and I’m working on a fix now. Thanks for catching this. I’ll comment again soon as a revised version is ready and up.

  7. Sean (16 comments.) says:

@Gene Steinberg: I just released version 3.0.1 which fixes this issue. Please give the revised version a test and let me know how it works for you. Thanks again for finding this.

  8. Gene Steinberg (10 comments.) says:

I tried it, but it simply didn’t work. Totally non-functional. I verified that the older version had been trashed. I redid everything.

    No change. Doesn’t function.

    Peace,
    Gene

  9. Sean (16 comments.) says:

That is really strange Gene as I’m running the exact version now I have for download.

There was in fact a bug which is now fixed, so this sounds like something specific to your install on your site.

I’m willing to assist you getting it going on your site or to see what’s going wrong.

  10. Gene Steinberg (10 comments.) says:

Sean, you can contact me privately by going to the http://www.macnightowl.com site, clicking on the Contact Us link and sending me a message with your contact info. We could also do this via Skype or phone. My Webmaster went on a four-week hiatus in January and never returned. I’m not a PHP programmer, maven or whatever. I’m only muddling along and welcome any assistance to make it happen.

    Peace,
    Gene

  11. Sean (16 comments.) says:

Ok, the issue is now fixed, so anyone who grabbed the plugin today and/or before this comment, please go download it again.

Thanks for your support and use of the plugin. More to come.

I have been using SRG Clean Archives for sometime. I would update to the latest version.

  13. Mads (1 comments.) says:

SRG Clean Archives 3.01 works fine. Thanks.

  14. Sean (16 comments.) says:

Thank you Mads for your support of the plugin and testing version 3.0.1.
