SEO Ultimate is a WordPress SEO system for your blog. It incorporates existing SEO features into one suite, improves on those features in the process, and adds new SEO features and tools.

Of course, standard SEO features are included:

Title rewriting

Noindex checkboxes

Meta editing

Canonical tags

Post meta box

SEO Ultimate also has these additional capabilities:

404 monitoring

Linkbox insertion

Settings import/export functions

Upcoming features include robots.txt editing, 301 logging, XHTML validation status monitoring, and countless others. (Not all the features will be finished by the end of the competition, but they’ll come eventually.) If you install the plugin now, you can get these features delivered to you on a regular basis via WordPress’s semi-automatic plugin updater.

I’ve also incorporated these extra features into SEO Ultimate:

Inline changelogs

Readme changelog

Admin footer branding

WordPress 2.7+ menu integration

Integration with WordPress’s Help system

Inline phpDoc documentation

“Uninstallability”

Yes, you can currently get many of these features using other plugins, but I hope you’ll see SEO Ultimate for what it is: the start of something much grander; a modular development framework that lets me rapidly churn out a major new SEO feature on an almost-weekly basis. A few months from now, SEO Ultimate’s featureset will easily eclipse that of any other free plugin available. (The time limits of the competition require me to release a more modest featureset for the time being.)

Be sure to check out the auto-installer system (at the bottom of linked post) that I invented for this plugin! You can also download the zip file. SEO Ultimate requires WordPress 2.7 or above.

Support is provided via the WordPress Support system.

Your feedback is appreciated!

WordPress Beta Tester allows you to get involved with the WordPress development process by making it easy for you to get early access to nightly builds and beta releases using the core upgrader.

The choice you have is:

Point release nightlies - This contains the work that is occurring on a branch in preparation for a x.x.x point release. This should also be fairly stable but will be available before the branch is ready for beta.

Bleeding edge nightlies - This is the bleeding edge development code which may be unstable at times. Only use this if you really know what you are doing.

Once you enable the plugin it will by default switch your blog to the “Point release” stream and if you want to switch to the “Bleeding edge” stream then you will need to go to the Tools … Beta Testing page and configure the plugin there:

Please note: Once you have switched your blog to one of these beta versions of software it will not always be possible to downgrade as the database structure maybe updated during the development of a major release.

More information about the plugin can be found on the original announcement post and in WordPress Extend.

For many many people a changelog is a very important thing. It is all about justifying to your users why they should upgrade to the latest version of a plugin. Changelogger helps you keep track of what has changed in a new plugin version at a glance, right on the plugin listing page. Without opening the thickbox. Without browsing to the Changelog tab.

Screenshot:

That’s basically it. Given the fact the plugin author provides a changelog section, Changelogger takes action. In case there’s no changelog section provided, the plugin encourages the blog owner to ask the plugin author to add a changelog section. Looks like this:

Installation is as easy as pie. Download, install, activate, done. Changelogger requires at least WP 2.7.

The plugin can be downloaded here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/changelogger/ Support is given via the official plugin page or the wp.org support forums. Code documentation here.

The Plugin Debug Objects provides the user, which has the appropriate rights, normally the administrator, a large number of information. Values and content get displayed at the frontend of the blog, to analyze errors but also to better understand WordPress.

The Plugin provides in various tabs information to:

PHP

Memory usage

Operating System

Server

WordPress Version

Language

Very extensive definitions of various constants

Cookie definitions

File Permissions

Separate user and usermeta tables

FTP and SSH definitions

Query information

Conditional tags; value of the tag

Theme information

Template Information

Cache content

Hooks and filters

Functions, which respond on hooks and filters

Contents of arrays to hooks and filters

All defined constants

The plugin can be used with my Plugin Debug Queries (WP plugin SVN) and thus the analysis and optimization of the blog can be used. Debug queries will be integrated into the frontend of Debug Objects and is only for users with appropriate rights possible.

The plugin does not filter values and should only be used for information and optimization, I don’t recommended to use it on a live blog. For developers it can rapidly deliver data, which is useful in a development environment.

There are no data in the database and there are no settings. Therefore, the installation is pretty simple: Just upload the Plugin in the Plugin directory or use the automatic installation of the backend to install and activate the Plugin. In the footer of the frontend of the blog, you can see the information.

Live Blogging is a plugin developed to support blogs that are doing live “micro” blogging of running events, such as major sport events or tech conferences. It was originally developed for the University of York’s Nouse website (The Roses sporting tournament was the first event to use it).

It provides a simple backend interface, and has multiple hooks that can be triggered when a new live blog post is made - at the moment it has a hook to push to Twitter and also to Meteor.

The plugin is most effective when used alongside Meteor. When Meteor is used, the events are automatically pushed (using Comet technology) to all of your currently connected readers where they slide in at the top of the post - this is the same technology as Twitterfall, whose creators advised in the creation of this plugin. Comments on those posts also automatically appear at the end.

Using the plugin to blog these kind of events has two obvious advantages - reducing load on your server of constant pageloads from people refreshing your blog, and also to get your entries out quicker than anyone else. Also the sliding transition is cool!

Watch the screencast

Here are the simple steps:

Register on the Plugin Competition Blog, wait to be given author permissions (within 24 hours)

Make sure you check all the Plugin Competition Rules and adhere to them in order to be eligible

Introduce your plugin(s) or your plans for writing plugins on the Plugin Competition blog

Once your plugin is ready, publish it on the blog and make it available for download via WordPress Extend

Provide initial support for the plugins through the Competition blog, your own blog or other place of publication and through WordPress Support and Extend.

The last step, but the most important step, is to submit the final code for your plugin to us via email. We do not publish this email or the instructions on what to put in the email till the final few weeks of the competition. Check back with us or on the Plugin Competition blog for that email address about two weeks before the end of the competition.

Alternatively you could do the following if you need new ideas for Plugin development towards the competition. You could:

You could post your questions and your needs on this WLTC Community Forum Topic

You could post your question on the WordPress Forums

You could look at the most popular WordPress Ideas and find one that has not been done in a plugin yet

Adopt a Kvetch

First of all i would like to thank all of you for your support, with a
special credit to Daniel.

So here it is, MailPress 1.6 is released and available for download at
wordpress.org.

You can also download two other WordPress plugins related to MailPress
at MailPress google group. (right click on the
link!)

first plugin : mailpress_bulk_import (file is mailpress_bulk_import.
1.0.rar) is a ‘bulk add’ form above MailPress users list if you want
to import several mails in one shot (Thanks Daniel).

second plugin : mailpress_filter_img (file is mailpress_filter_img.
1.0.rar) is an add-on to MailPress to filter ALL html img tags before
mailing or preview.
Remember that some emailers such as Gmail, Hotmail … discard css
stylesheets so with this filter, we try to put the maximum of the css
styles INLINE for img tags.
The filter processes EACH image in the mail (even images from the
header and footer of your MailPress theme),

But you will find more on each readme.txt files that are attached to
each plugin.

Hope this new release will bring you more pleasure to use MailPress.

Enjoy !

ps : do not forget to rate MailPress here . Thanks !

WordPress 2.5+ (Could work on lower versions, but we will only support the WordPress 2.5+.)

History:

One of us runs a website where they post a new photo every day from a very large collection. However, that same one person is pretty lazy when it comes to creating a new post for each photo. So this WordPress Plugin was the solution for that one persons laziness.

Optional incremented title (ex. Vacation Photo # 1, Vacation Photo #2, Vacation Photo #1,345, etc…)

Increment starting number can be set to any numeric value.

Posts can be added to the categories of your choice.

Posts can have the tags of your choice.

Images can have the ALT tag of your choice.

Image directory can be set by user.

Images are chosen at random.

No image will be repeated. (Unless you have the same photo under different names.)

Installation Instructions:

Upload

Activate

Go to Settings/PICS to set options

That’s it.

“Nonce! Please” is a simple plugin that prevents brute-force comments and trackbacks from spammer.

Description

Akismet is a great plugin to block spam comments/trackbacks. It detects spams completely. But, Akismet allows to accept unsolicited feedbacks, and to store them in the database. It is weaker act to fight with spams. A better way is to reject them.

Also, the architecture of WordPress is vulnerable for spammer. Because the comment API is fixed URL like: “wp-comments-post.php”, “wp-trackback.php, or “http://blog.example.com/archives/99/trackback/”. Therefore, spammers can easily post bulk comments/trackbacks to WordPress weblogs.

“Nonce! Please” add a nonce (random strings) to the comment hidden field and/or the trackback URL. A valid comment and/or trackback should have a nonce string. Bulk feedbacks will not have nonce.
This plugins also verifies that a new comment/trackbacks has the valid nonce. If there is no nonce or an invalid one, the feedback is rejected.

Adding and detecting nonce is automatic, users are not do anything!

Installation

“Nonce! Please” can be installed in 2 steps:

Unzip “nonce_pleaseNNN.zip” archive and put only the nonce_please.php file into your “plugins” directory (wp-content/plugins/) of the server.

Activate the plugin.

Licence

The licence of this plugin is GPL v2.

Restrictions

If you are using cacheing plugins (such as WP-Cache, WP Super Cache), make sure that caching time less than 12 hours. Because WordPress nonce string will change in 12 hours cycle and valid for 24 hours. If caching longer than 12 hours, invalid nonce will be survived at your site.

MaxRef Widgets enables you to display multiple sidebar widgets to maximize how your visitors reference your posts, links, categories and comments. We will maintain and upgrade it here, and take your suggestions and comments below. Your donations will be appreciated to offset the continuing development expense.

Concepted by Scott Frangos, Managing Partner for WebFadds.com *, and programmed by Antonie Potgieter of Tribulant Software, the plugin is a powerful way to add unlimited widgets on your sidebars to display posts only from a certain category, the links from a particular link category, posts, comments and more. Choose how many items appear, to display an RSS feed for categories, and how to sort the links presented. It uses the latest Wordpress methods and functions and of course adapts the style of the WP 2.5 administration panel.

Installation…

Upload the whole plugin folder to your /wp-content/plugins/ folder.

Go to the Plugins page and activate the plugin.

Go to your widgets area, and add a MaxRef Widget (as many as you want)

Click on Edit to configure your new widget to display Posts by Category, Pages, Links by Category, or Comments, and then select sorting method and other options.

Download

Broken links Remover wordpress plugin helps you fix bad/broken links, both text links(anchor tags) and image links (img tags). It blocks the display of such links on your wordpress post/page, until you fix them. These links would not be visible to search engine robots as well as the human readers, until you correct them.

Links are very commonly used in posts/pages. Quite often, these links may get broken when a page, that the link represents, is deleted or when a site to which you have linked has moved to a different domain or when a subdirectory is forgotten or for any other reasons including a typo.

Broken links, on your site, are bad for your readers as well as the search engine crawlers.
How is Broken links remover different from several broken link checker tools available on the web?

Broken links remover does not scan through all your posts/pages in the background. It works as and when the requestor (human reader or search engine robot) requests a post/page on your wordpress site. However, once a link has been detected as bad/broken, Broken links remover plugin does not check the link’s status again, until you fix it.

Broken links remover plugin not only alerts you of bad/broken links through dashboards but it also removes(hides) those links from the requestor’s view

Broken links remover can either use CURL or PHP’s native socket functionalities (FSOCKOPEN) to detect link’s status, as some hosts disable the use of FSOCKOPEN or CURL.

While Platinum SEO Plugin helps you automate the onsite SEO (search engine optimization) process, Broken links Remover Wordpress Plugin complements it by automatically removing/hiding all bad/broken links on your website, until you fix them.

This plugin helps in making the web cleaner. This plugin also helps you link to the final destination, in case the website to whom you have linked to uses a 301 (permanent) redirection.Eventually you are helping him out, by linking to the page to which he has moved the content.Find out why broken links are bad for both your readers and search engines at my site.

Dodo is a Wordpress plugin that helps you personalize your blog homepage.

Dodo system tracks user actions on your blog (post reading, searches, comments) and gives a widget-based view to your users, proposing related posts, giving you -the blogger- an overview of what’s hot in your blog. Blogger and users are able to select what actions will be tracked and which widgets (and in what order) will be shown in the personalized view, having the option to switch off the whole view, in one click.

[note: If you rate this plugin 3 stars or less, please also take time to leave a comment explaining why. I want to further document or clarify the interface where needed. If it won't activate or you get php errors, maybe there is a plugin or theme conflict that your feedback could help me resolve. Let's be a mutually supportive community.]

Role Scoper is a comprehensive drop-in enrichment for WordPress content permissions. Broaden or narrow reading, editing or administrative access to selected users or groups on a page-specific, category-specific or other content-specific basis.

Existing WordPress roles and anonymous reading capabilities are honored by default, but with Role Scoper can be:

supplemented with content-specific role assignment

disregarded if a section (category) or object (page/post) is marked exclusive

Scoped role requirements and assignments are reflected in every aspect of the WordPress interface, from front end content and navigation to administrative post and comment totals. Content administrators control who can view/edit/administer specified content, and what content anonymous users see.

Section and object roles can be set to propagate to child sections/objects. Create User Groups and assign roles to them. Choose whether unqualified front-end content is hidden or replaced with a customizable teaser. The object role assignment UI (a new tab in the Post/Page edit form) indicates where users have a role implicitly applied through another blog, section or object role assignment.

RSS output and XML-RPC editing also follow your scoped role assignments and requirements. Template functions are available to allow themes to format exclusive content and teasers distinctively. An extensive plugin API allows other plugins to define their own data sources, sections, capabilities and roles.

Role Scoper had its first public release on May 15th and has recently passed 1100 downloads. In these 2 months, the plugin has benefited greatly from an enthusiastic early core of users whose feedback has allowed me to flush out lots of bugs through 18 beta revisions. Role Scoper is not an easily documented set of useful new features, but a new layer underlying all your content editing and delivery. Some have found all the new knobs a little overwhelming. But if you really want to push for sophisticated access control or collaborative editing, there are some early success stories that might persuade you to take the plunge.

Does it seem strange to you that pages have a nice, intuitive way to apply various themes to them and categories don’t? Would you like to have a way for posts to be styled based on their category? I did on more than a couple of occasions. So for my entry into this contest I decided to make a plugin that would solve these two problems. All plugin details are available at the Idealien Category Enhancements (ICE) home page.

The first place I tried the plugin out was to create a set of AJAX-based category / post views for a client project (blacksmith artist photo gallery). The code for that is not yet “clean enough” that I feel comfortable sharing it, but looking at that site might give you a hint of the potential that this plugin offers. As I was creating that fast loading photo gallery, I realized that I may have unlocked another small piece of the ‘Can Wordpress become a fully-featured CMS?’. This plugin could allow one installation of Wordpress to be any / all of the following:

An event calendar and each category is a different calendar type.
Each post takes you to a detailed view of the date with event details.

Photo Gallery

Multi-level / genre portfolio with extensive use of custom fields.

Contact list

Product database

etc

Looking at some of the other plugins that are part of the contest, at first glance my plugin might not seem that incredible. But I’d ask that the judges consider what a theme designer with bold vision could design as a result of using this plugin which could not be done as easily without. By integrating the template into the manage > categories menu, it brings consistency to the template process of categories, posts and pages.
