Definitely should be in core. Swap your auto-deactivate “this won’t run” code with a reversion back to the previous time-zone code — i.e. if it runs, great. If not, it works the way it used to.

Thanks for the “how to” element of this. It’s nice when good coders share this kind of know-how. I’ll be using this plugin and checking out the source!

There’s been some talk of building it into WordPress. I’m working on a patch for it at the moment. Problem is that it can only be done on certain setups, so the built-in one will likely only support PHP5 and up.

I don’t think I can be bothered to install this, because it’s just more clutter for the plugins screen and I don’t really care whether or not by blog observes summer time, but it really ought to be built into WordPress.

I like this plugin. I wish you could add the functionality of changing the posting time from 24 to 12 hour. I.E. instead of when saving a post having to figure out what 7p.m. is in 24 hour time, making 12 hour time the default. Make sense?
