  1. I am pleased to announce the 0.5 "First Big Milestone" release of NeoBox, my first WordPress theme!

It is a mashup of Chris Pearson's Neoclassical theme with the semantics of the famous Sandbox theme, with some other nice additions thrown in (including a replacement Gallery shortcode to improve validity and semantics).

Features include two widget-ready sidebars, random header images, completely themed template hierarchy (date.php, author.php, etc.), Silk icons, and more!

    Requires WordPress 2.5+.

  2. 0.6 is very close and includes some nice new features, but I was wondering if anyone has had a chance to check out NeoBox. If you have, do you have any suggestions or requests?

Also, I'm a little curious how one gets their theme featured in the WordPress theme releases posts on the main blog here.

  3. I can't edit the first post's title (drat!), but I am pleased to announce the release of NeoBox 0.6!

  4. Very nice visual appeal. Good choices on the images in the rotating header images, too. I notice that it has about every page covered: archives, tags, authors, attachments, sitemap. Was wondering if you'd add a Links page. Also, maybe you could add a few more example posts to demo how it renders ordered and unordered lists, photos in posts, blockquotes, etc?

  5. The demo site is very much a work in progress; more is planned for it, but I just have not had the time to sit and post nothing but example stuff. :P

0.6 introduced a page-links.php file that can be used to create a links page; simply select that template when creating a page.

Thanks for your comments. If you have any other requests or bug reports, please don't hesitate to let me know!

(Also, with very minor modification, my site rickbeckman.org is running NeoBox 0.6, so you can check out various posts there in the time being to see how the theme handles various things. However, I do live testing there, so it's possible some things may not appear in NeoBox until a future release.)

  6. Okay, I took some time and set up a demo post for at least some text styling -- basic HTML as well as some of the custom classes NeoBox is set up with.

It may not be perfect -- the theme is by no means "final release" yet -- but I hope it gives some idea to what sorts of things can be done with it.

A big thanks goes to Chris Pearson who did most of the styling, however, in the Neoclassical theme upon which NeoBox is based. So far, the biggest thing that sets NeoBox apart is the built in semantic functions as found in the Sandbox theme.
