Twitter, the micro blogging service which allows you to submit messages that are 140 characters or less has become an excellent communications tool. A large number of people are using Twitter on a daily basis to keep up with the world as well as communicating with their friends and family members from almost any location. As luck would have it, a large number of WordPress faithful are also using Twitter. I have at times, indulged in a conversation or two with those who are making a name for themselves within the WordPress community. I use my Twitter account to pass on links to cool themes, news stories and plugins I come across via my FeedReader.

With that being said, I’d like to present you with at least 30 people to follow on Twitter. Each one of these people are doing something significant within the WordPress community and some of them are core developers such as Matt Mullenweg. Read the rest of this entry »

Prologue Undergoes Updates 4comments

Prologue, the WordPress.com theme that mimics Twitter like functionality has undergone a series of updates. The updates are as follows:

  • The front page now shows a stream of recent updates instead of one update per user
  • Pages now have their own template and look much better
  • Avatars are only shown once for sequential posts by the same author (front page and tag pages)
  • Post titles are no longer empty, they are generated based on the beginning of each post
  • Works out of the box for WordPress.org 2.3.2

Probably the biggest update is the fact that Prologue now works out of the box for WordPress 2.3.2. It didn’t work before because of a function that was used within the author template which wasn’t available in 2.3.2. Because of these updates, Prologue which is now at version 1.2, will have the changes reflected in Subversion (for self hosted WordPress.org blogs) and is available through the Theme selector in WordPress.com
