WordPress for Android 1.0 Release: The Open Source WordPress for Android application is now available for download. This is in addition to the WordPress for iPhone and WordPress for BlackBerry applications that are already available. It is built on top of the wpToGo application which has been taken over by the WordPress team and released as this Open Source Application. You can follow the development of the application at dev.android.wordpress.org and look for support on the support forums.

It works as advertised. I wrote and uploaded a post this morning using this application while on a bus. Ironically, the article was about how Google Maps on mobile makes it much easier to use public transporation.

But I need to get Android first to try this, I’m still stuck with Blackberry…

Shudnt they just come with a lean generic version of WordPress for Mobiles

I downloaded it from the Android Market as soon as I heard the news! Haven’t had a chance to make a post yet because my bus journey is only 5 minutes long… just about enough time for the news apps to download the day’s headlines via 3G.

Am so glad WordPress finally decided to do an official app release for Android.

Psyched to hear this. So far I have a love / dislike relationship with my Android. Perhaps this will endear it more to me. But since I drive rather than take public transportation I guess I’ll end up using while waiting in lines, etc. Certainly don’t want to get nicked for driving while blogging!
