Help! I recently started self hosting with Wordpress. My categories got all messed up--most are uncategorized now and when i did the tag switch--it got rid of the categories. SO I downloaded this plug in and activated it. I go to manage-->batch categories and Filter the tags i want to see. Then i select the category (all my categories are still listed--just not on individ. posts) i want and hit 'Add.' Then it brings me to a screen saying: "Sorry, no posts matched your criteria." Pls help! I have alot of posts to fix and this would be a life saver!
Thanks!!

It's a nice option to have. I tend towards doing stuff like this through MySql backend, but I'm always a little nervous about messing things up. Should help me sleep better.

[...] *Plugin of the week* - The plugin of the week is called Batch Categories. Batch categories solves the problem of having to reassign categories to posts on a post by post basis. With batch categories you can reassign a number of posts to a category, remove a number of posts from a category, edit the tagging structure, and much more. - http://weblogtoolscollection.com/archives/2008/04/25/batch-category-editor/ [...]

[...] Weblog Tools Collection » Blog Archive » Batch Category Editor A day after I spend time editing posts one by one to clean up categories, I see this: a batch category editor for WordPress. Works pretty well to add/remove tags and categories from multiple posts at once. (tags: blogging wordpress) Posted by Sandy Kemsley on Friday, April 25, 2008, at 7:38 pm. Filed under Links.
My normal trick is to change the default category to the one I want the posts to end up in, delete the post's category, and then restore my original default category.

I deleted 1700 posts from a blog the other day, all from the same category. I was going to do it 20 at a time, which was painful, then I spent a while figuring out how to do it in the database with MySQL, which worked out nicely in the end. This would have made it much easier though! I think I'm going to get this for my blogs now, just in case I have to do something like that again!
