Quite a few associates of mine (including me) are avoiding the US for conferences and stuff. It's not worth the hassle.

I concur - not in London as the cost of hotels suddenly makes it an expensive trip - and an expensive thing to organise!

Cardiff sounds good; I went there last year and the accommodation is cheap compared to most UK cities and it's a great place... loved it. Plus, it's cheap(ish) to travel to.

Of course, Edinburgh would be nice seeing as it's just down the road from me... quite a way from anywhere else, though!

Birmingham is fine by me. It's only because I live near London and as far as I know, it's cheaper to travel into London sometimes then travelling out (during the weekends?) ;)

Count me in for attending, assisting. What about Birmingham? More central/easier to get to for more people. Also, potential for lower accommodation costs.

Why does everybody have to shout that it's got to be in London?

The UK has beautiful and (much) cheaper cities the London to hold an event like this. Why not York or Cardiff or Bristol, Gloucester, Birmingham, Manchester (Picadilly is easy to get to from the whole of the UK!) just off the top of my head. Just keep the damned event OUT of London.

Yes, I live on the South Coast. If it's in London then I won't attend. Anywhere else, I'm there.

London FTW! I haven't read up about Word Camp mainly because... it's not in the UK, but it sounds like a massive event!

Carson, 'Curent value of the dollar' - I think that's one of the few things we can't influence in organising such an event!
