Litte Update: I got accepted tonight for the plugin I want to participate with (sorry, Ozh… hard times for your plugin. ;-)).

Still, I think that self-hosting should be allowed. The wordpress.org repository is a great idea, but until it is (nearly) as easy as with wp-plugins.net for people to add new plugins, it should be up to the authors where they host their stuff.

Forget it dudes, I’ve killed all competition yet with the preview of my upcoming “Who Sees Ads” plugin

BTW I do agree with Alex about the hosting requirement. This should be a coder’s decision to host their plugin on their site, or somewhere else, or both. I feel a little bit mitigated about this requirement for myself.

There seem to be irregularities in users being accepted for the WP plugins repository. Some people are waiting for weeks and haven’t been accepted yet. I also have applied 3 days ago, but no feedback yet. Maybe you should reconsider the requirement of plugins being hosted at wordpress.org.
