I have a question. I want to change the DATE format in my blog headings (both index and individual entries). I figured out which files need to be changed, and I found the date codes. But, no matter what combination I try, the date is still all numeric. I want May to read "May", and not "05". I want the day of the week in the date heading. Instead of "05/08/07", I want my date in military style, "Wed, 08 May 2007". Can anyone show me how to do that? Feel free to e-mail. Thanks. (If you can't get the e-mail address from this comment, there is a Mailform on the Web site: www.ChangeOurSchools.org.)

I like a different approach. It all depends on what "minimalism" means to you. In my case it means not seeing what's not relevant. Not "not having" it. For some people minimalism means also stripping functionality, to me it means not seeing it until needed.

"Disabling plugins" is a too-broad statement. There are plugins out there that actually help make the pages more minimalistic in nature.

It's like getting furniture with clever hideaway sections. Minimalism doesn't mean sacrificing features, it may just mean not burdening the user with them unless he wants them.

We're back up to speed, it wasn't just the surge of interest from WTC that stuffed us, other factors kicked in simultaneously.

As to whether or not to delete the images, yeah, okay, rename the folder instead, but this really was a tongue in cheek tip in the first place, so glad everyone had a good laugh ;-)

So the advice is to delete the images folder for any theme, and then a minimalist version will show up (with some tweaks)? GOOD LUCK...

Deleting the images folder is not something I'd recommend to a newbie. Depending on how the images are used it could make the layout look a little wonky.

Deleting the entire images folder seems kind of foolhardy; renaming it would probably work just as well.

Don't think that item has been Dugg (Digged?) at all...must be raking in traffic from somewhere else that's pushed it over the bandwidth limit. Will rectify as soon as I can. Meanwhile, www.sciencebase.com is keeping it up with the latest diatribe on the antiscience movement who are picking holes in nanotechnology.

Glad it worked for you. One commenter on sciencetext.com pointed out that there are lots of minimalist themes in existence, but I just figured this was a far more risky and fun way to do it, so creating something potentially unique.

I just did that with my theme. The theme allowed for different backgrounds or wallpapers behind the blog. you could choose which one you wanted but many visitors didn't see that, and it wasn't even labeled at all. So I just deleted all the background images I didn't want and presto!

A bran new theme, static theme. No more dynamic background for me. :)
