What about an image plugin that works well with WordPress 2.5? Do these? I had and loved IImage Browser, but then it just quit working and I never could get it to work again. I had it on WordPress 2.3 when I quit on me.

I used IImage Browser for years and liked it for it's directory options and flexibility, and the ability to control images per view. And it wasn't too hard for me to figure out how to hack it to change the size of the pop-up window and such, but I did think it's interface was kind of clunky. Unfortunately, I found that in more than one case it didn't play nice with other plugins that added quicktags to the write page. Either the IImage browser tag or the competing plugin tag would disappear, and in one case a spell checker plugin would not work correctly unless I deactivated IImage Browser.

I finally gave up on it last year and began working with Image Manager. It has a lovely interface, and the results are a lot nicer and easier to work with (like for my friends who don't know how to style their images). But I agree with Tim LB, it is much too rigid.

I've yet to find an easy to work with image browser/uploader that would also create images, thumbnails and directories that could then be used in a lovely way by a photo album plugin (and that didn't cause problems in Quicktags).

Iimage browser gets my vote on the grounds of the flexibility of the directory structure. I've been using it for years. But I only stumbled across this thread when I upgraded Wordpress and seemed to break Iimage browser. I've just tried Image Manager, but it doesn't work so well for me. For my purposes it's too rigid in its expectations about default directories.

I used to use this plugin, but then I found the <a href="http://www.soderlind.no/archives/2006/01/03/imagemanager-20/" title="Image Manager" rel="nofollow"> plugin by Per Soderlind. Image Manager is definitely one of my top 3 plugins. I literally use it on every blog post (except for asides).

Thanks for that! I use IImage browser for two or three years now - and it's still the best uploading / image handling plugin for me. What I really like is its browsing functionality - e. g. the window for browsing of the image manager plugin is to small and gives IMHO not a really good overview of all your uploaded images (also: in that plugin all uploaded images are on one site vs. the iimage browser site which are paged).

I used to use IImage Browser, for about two years. It was really good. Then, I stumbled across something that's even better: ImageManager. Right now, you use two plugins to place thumbnails on your website that are links to open full sized pictures. ImageManager does that and more by itself. IMHO, ImageManager is better plugin than IImage Browser.

I use <a href="http://ecto.kung-foo.tv/" rel="nofollow">ecto</a> to upload the images, and <a href="http://fredfred.net/skriker/index.php/iimage-gallery" rel="nofollow">IImage Gallery</a> (from the same author as IImage Browser) to display them. It creates a nice mini-gallery per post, with all the images in that post.

I use <a href="http://www.wildbits.de/mygallery/" rel="nofollow">MyGallery</a> (site is in German and English) which does all the above and and more (it also has most of the features of the Image Gallery plugin from the same site and even still more).

Only problem is that there are occasional hiccups with the WP2.1+ (works on my sites, but some people have had problems) and the author seems to be trying to decide whether he wants to continue supporting it or not, which means a dearth of releases.

Maybe if more people used it an encouraged him? =)
