The idea is simple, the hard part lies in the execution.
Just as playing more golf makes you a better golfer, more writing or coding makes you better at writing or coding. The challenge I have is finding the time to practice everything I want to get better at :)
In the case of wordpress, of course, you can just use pre existing themes, but the great thing about CSS and HTML is that you can almost always find a way to see the code behind a design you like. In turn, you can copy and develop this code by adding your own ideas.
Just start simple and make very few changes per iteration, so you can understand the effect of what you’re doing to the original.

Yap, a friend of mine taught me how to drink.
“You must learn how to drink without getting drunk – he said. – And you do learn it by drinking more and more…”

That’s how I’m learning WordPress. I took the Cutline theme and hacked it to my NBC Heroes news site, Heroes Info. A lot of trial and error but I like the new, reddit.com-like look.

I’m reminded of a gal posting at Yahoo Answers who would post the most inane things; “Do you like spring flowers”. It was obvious her mission was to build up her score there.

I agree! I now manage four WordPress blogs and my newest one, JetEmployment is skyrocketing. Thanks, WordPress!

It’s usually better to give one thing 100% of attention than giving two things 50% effort and time.

Still, I have fondled the idea of starting a second weblog with several different editors in my native language. Nobody reads my old weblog anyway.
