If you like this post, please subscribe to our RSS feed to read our new posts every day.

Spam Magnet I monitor search engine hits for my various blogs and over the past couple of weeks, the predominant magnet for search hits on new blogs and consequently comment spam (attempts, thanks to Akismet) has been the results from the search linked above. It is strange to watch an IP visit a blog on my server from that search result and instantly access wp-comments-post.php. If you recently started a Wordpress blog or are planning to start a new one, I believe that you can reduce some of the deluge by removing the default post that says “This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!”.

CNN: Blogging for Dollars 0comments

CNN: Blogging for Dollars A nice run down of some real numbers in the new web 2.0 blog to riches phenomena. Much of this information has floated about the web for a while but this article is well researched (CNN Money) and is an interesting read. Of similar interest is another series of articles from CNET on venture capital for bloggers.

PS: Why in the world is TechMeme so darn difficult to link to?? I really like the ability to point to a series of articles but digging through jumbled code is a pain to say the least. I know that the “New Item Finder” can be used in some cases, but not all items seem to show up on that list.

  • The AdSense Game, literally!

The AdSense Game, literally! A pretty nifty AdSense game, a colorful Flash game that asks you to create, market, and optimize a website to earn money off AdSense ads. Though the initial review sounds a little boring, still worth giving it a shot. Who knows, maybe we can learn new stuff from it? (1)
