  • 10 Ways to Eliminate the Echo Chamber

10 Ways to Eliminate the Echo Chamber Chris talks about ways to reduce the “Echo Chamber Effect”. Darren has a good writeup on this list and there is some buzz in the blogoshpere following Chris’ post. My sarcasm might be lost to everyone but I really do like his advice, especially “Say something original at least once a day”. (2)
  • bLaugh

bLaugh Brad Fitzpatrick and Chris Pirillo come together to write an online comic that is on the money. I was introduced to it from a blog on online comics and I have become a regular almost instantly. Their dry tech humor is refreshing and their art work is pretty good. They also offer a little extra something in the form of a GoDaddy coupon to make the parodies a little more sweet. I will not disclose it here but will force you to visit the link if you want to get some money off your next GoDaddy purchase. :) (3)

SixApart Vox So where is VOX? I remember a bunch of hoopla on the original Comet hosted blogging platform and remember thinking to myself that they are following the same path as Wordpress.com with a small and private group of users with plans expanded to a larger audience while they learn the ropes of their new software. Most of the stuff looks like a web 2.0 rehash of most things cool put together with LiveJournal. Anyone use VOX? PS: I wonder if FeedBurner had to fix their “xx readers” script to accomodate TechCrunch’s cool 100k.

Readability and High Contrast Designs 3comments

Author: Mark Ghosh Category: General, Web Design

Readability and High Contrast Designs Roger takes on the light text on dark background folks and opns up a can of worms. However, the reasoning is sounds and though the dislike and readability impairment might be limited, the bookmarklet and valuable discussion is worth the read. Do you like dark on light designs as much as light on dark?

Spam Magnet 12comments

Author: Mark Ghosh Category: General

Spam Magnet I monitor search engine hits for my various blogs and over the past couple of weeks, the predominant magnet for search hits on new blogs and consequently comment spam (attempts, thanks to Akismet) has been the results from the search linked above. It is strange to watch an IP visit a blog on my server from that search result and instantly access wp-comments-post.php. If you recently started a Wordpress blog or are planning to start a new one, I believe that you can reduce some of the deluge by removing the default post that says “This is your first post. Edit or delete it, then start blogging!”.

A nice collection of themes are mentioned on this page, including some that I have never come across before. Of course, if you have not checked out the themes at plaintxt.org, you are definitely missing out!
