What about traditional promotion? Hand a little business card with nothing but your blog address and a catch phrase on it to every human you see. They'll check it out. If your blog is good, they will come back.
Biz cards are $70 for 2500 or so full color ones. Printers are a dime a dozen on the web. Go for it!

I support the good articles theory to bring traffic to your site. Anyway, why do you write a blog? To say what other want to hear or to say what you want to say?

That's the point, I think.

Definately a few things I'd like to try. I'm learning quickly that a niche is important, personally I'm too spread out. Also of course the ever helpful post-post-post. Which life sometimes tries to prevent. The technology behind the blogs, trackback, etc, seems to be getting more powerful, I do wish it was a little more user-friendly, although I'm very impressed with how easy Wordpress is to use.

Ok, that was an interesting read. I had never visited Seth's Blog before. Some of the "56 ways" contradicted themselves but hey that just makes you think about what you want to and not do with your own blog.

I've been coming to your site since the beginning of March. It's good, it's informative, on topic and well damn, I just like it! I linked to you from one of my posts called "Name tags and Worth".

Feel free to visit my site sometime. It's a plethora of creative mental stimulation with visuals and sometimes you'll even share witness to total meltdown! All in the spirit of being an artist I suppose ;)

Cheers!

One might think the promise of the Internet would be sufficient: If you build it, they will come. In the end, it's like anything else in life you want to gain wide recognition for - make it simple, make it right, and sell, sell, sell...

These points are valid. Just as we decide in the first seven seconds whether we like someone or not, readers quickly give a thumbs up or down based on what they see, followed by how well content is communicated.

Some of those are things I've been doing for years, still doesn't get me more than 150 hits/day, 90% of whom find me because of a post I made about emo boys.

I've seen a few lists, but this one seems to make a little more sense. My biggest downfall is that I'm not in some type of blogging clique where I can share links and comment on their stories. When I think about commenting on a more prominent blogger's post, I think "who cares what I think?"

I believe the best way to go would be to post numerous different things throughout your blog, but focus each post on one central topic. Like talking about everything involving sports on a blog, but in one post only talking about the Philadelphia Phillies, and how they're inconsistent.

There seems to be a lot of supposedly 'official' ways to get traffic to your blog. lol I wonder if these people realise that what they're saying has already been repeated ad naseum by the rest of the blogosphere?

Well, there are tons of contradictions in there, but that's the point, isn't it? That our readers want a lot of different things, and there is room for lots of variety -- if not within the same blog, then among all our blogs.

Dodecá Cultural Center is a non profit organization which goals are studying, producing and encouraging the individual and colective creation of quality cultural materials, as well as they public difusion. A downpoint is that the blog is written in Spanish.

is focused on new and useful sites on the Internet and emerging Internet technologies. It is aimed at everyday users rather than the tech crowd. It came about because most blogs about the Internet are written by technical folks for other techies. I am writing for people who are interested in new technology as a useful and fun tool, rather than technology for technology's sake.
