Essays on Mass Media: The next big thing in 1448 was a technology called “movable type”, invented for commercial use by Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith from Mainz (although the Chinese had thought of it first). Nice series of essays from The Economist. I really had no idea that “movable type” was used in the past (though I should have known from science education).

Software tracks mood swings of blogosphere: Software that tracks mood swings across the ‘blogosphere’ and pinpoints the events behind them could provide more insightful ways to search and analyse the web. Not really, since the software only looks at Livejournal blogs which does not account for all of the blogosphere and they seem to have made life easy for themselves by looking at the “mood” labels from Livejournal. I thought this would be some sort of intelligent software that could start to fathom the actual mood of the blogosphere like Internet Traffic report (in its own arena of course).

WordPress 2.x Filters Comprehensive List for Plugin and Theme Developers. I like this list and have come across something similar on the Codex but I cannot recall the URI. Also look for WordPress 2.x Hooks from Angsuman. My only gripe is the presentation, but thats the author’s choice and the nature of the beast.

Hacking A More Tasteful MySpace How come I have seen a similar style over and over again at various designers’ webpages under their “clients” section? Maybe because (almost) every MySpace page has almost exactly the same content hidden under inane and useless extra fluff that makes them completely unreadable. I like this redesign.

I don’t know when it was actually added, but plugin authors who have their work listed at wp-plugins.net can now modify their plugin descriptions regarding WordPress 2.x compatibility. Developers, update your plugins !
