Essays on Mass Media: The next big thing in 1448 was a technology called “movable type”, invented for commercial use by Johannes Gutenberg, a goldsmith from Mainz (although the Chinese had thought of it first). Nice series of essays from The Economist. I really had no idea that “movable type” was used in the past (though I should have known from science education).

  • The Two Most Important Words in Blogging

The Two Most Important Words in Blogging: The second word is “because” and here is one of the example used by the author to prove his point. Excuse me, I have five pages. • Software tracks mood swings of blogosphere

Software tracks mood swings of blogosphere: Software that tracks mood swings across the ‘blogosphere’ and pinpoints the events behind them could provide more insightful ways to search and analyse the web. Not really, since the software only looks at Livejournal blogs which does not account for all of the blogosphere and they seem to have made life easy for themselves by looking at the “mood” labels from Livejournal. I thought this would be some sort of intelligent software that could start to fathom the actual mood of the blogosphere like Internet Traffic report (in its own arena of course). (0)

List of WordPress 2.x Filters 6comments

WordPress 2.x Filters Comprehensive List for Plugin and Theme Developers. I like this list and have come across something similar on the Codex but I cannot recall the URI. Also look for Wordpress 2.x Hooks from Angsuman. My only gripe is the presentation, but thats the author’s choice and the nature of the beast.

  • Hacking A More Tasteful MySpace

Hacking A More Tasteful MySpace How come I have seen a similar style over and over again at various designers’ webpages under their “clients” section? Maybe because (almost) every MySpace page has almost exactly the same content hidden under inane and useless extra fluff that makes them completely unreadable. I like this redesign. (0)
  • Can Bloggers Make Money?

Can Bloggers Make Money? A back and forth discussion between Jason Calacanis and Alan Meckler (CEO of Jupiter Media) discussing whether making a living from blogging is a viable revenue generating method. There are way too many good examples for this to be a question anymore. Just how good one is at being a blogging entrepreneur differs from person to person. (1)
