April Fool. Ha! Ha! Whatever …

Maybe I am feeling a little too cynical, but I think this April Fool thing has run its’ course. I had started to put together a list of all the blogs that were making the half hearted attempt and then just lost interest. It was cool for a year, now it just looks tacky.

What news did you come across today that was a joke?

[EDIT] Let me excuse myself while I start a list. This might be interesting after all.

  2. What’s sad is I’m terribly curious as to what actually would happen if WordPress and TextPattern got together and decided to have a WordPattern baby… Or would it be a a TextPress baby?

  3. @Shahab

At the price one can get a domain, there’d no excuse not to enhance the joke that way. If I only had planned my joke early, I wouldn’t have used the lame excuse of DNS propagation. :P

  5. Most of the online April fools things are kinda old, but the WordPattern one is rather inspired. I love the source code for it.

  7. I’ve always loved the Google Fool’s jokes - every year. And usually, theirs has been the best of the batch.

But this year I think WordPattern wins. Of course, I’m a WP geek, and I’m guessing that anyone outside of the WP / TP worlds wouldn’t get it. Yes, I had to go all the way through and download the files and everything. Funny stuff. Very detailed. Made me smile.

While I agree with you in some respects (when it’s the same stuff over and over it gets old, but most of the ones you’ve listed are creative enough.), I’m just glad to see that a sense of humor still prevails in the world, if only for one day a year. If you’re not laughing, you’re not living. :)

  12. April Fool’s Day on one plate or the danger of trackbacks

With every passing year more and more websites participate in April Fool’s Day by publishing fake news, announcements, products, and press releases. There’s lots of fun on the Web on any given day, but twice so on the 1st of April. There a…
