		<description>Anil's an ass (no pun intended) and I would say that to his face.  Why doesn't he stick with turning SixApart to stone with a glance rather than messing in another pie?

People put content on shared services like Flickr because they want to, not because they need to.  The payment to the user is good service, excellent UI, etc.

Why doesn't SixApart pay bloggers who are using their services?</description>

		<description>It is an interesting thought, but my guess is that for most sites it is hard enough to be profitable anyhow, so paying is not an option. On the other hand, for the big ones that indeed make money by publishing user generated content sharing profits could indeed work. Interesting development indeed.</description>

		<description>That is exactly how the Fine Fools community currently works. As the "users" (writers) add new content their ads are placed above that content pushing them to find more content/better content. As the site grows in popularity, more of the authors ads are shown, hopefully increasing his renumeration and inspiring him to write more.</description>
