WP Plugin: AutoSave Have you ever written a post in Wordpress and then completely lost it due to your own fault or that of the computer? I know I frequently will start writing a post, receive an email, click on a link on the email and then completely lose the post that I was working on. This might be the answer to a lot of my blog writing headaches. Of course, this can only be used in Wordpress for now. Wonderful plugin that is surely a lifesaver!
How many hours a day do you spend blogging? I mean to ask for the whole experience. How many hours total do you spend reading blogs, reading posts, emails, lists, news and such about blogging every day? How does that time break up?
I personally spend anywhere between a half hour all the way upto 16 hours a day blogging, with the average being between 3 to 4 hours. The time is spent equally divided between checking news, checking stats, answering/reading emails and lists, coding, analyzing issues and questions and general zoning at the screen.
How does your blogging day pan out?
Album Journal: I have been working with photo blogging, photo albums and online photo repositories for sometime and I had thought that Flickr was the closest thing to a perfect photo app. I might have been wrong. After looking through this “Album Journal” I think this would be cool. I like the interface and the organization of the albums. I really like the idea of being able to record entries per photo and per album and then display them as such. Not everyone has a bunch of pictures to post in an album everyday but when you do, it would be of tremendous aesthetic value to be able to annotate each one with a blog post of sorts. I know that all of this is achievable with Gallery, Flickr and the like but somehow they all lack the fluidity and the coherence of the album journal above. I would like to develop something like this.
Google and Craigslist Mashup: Talk about cool code. If you have not seen this before and are into programming or business, this is definitely worth a clickthrough. Programmers never cease to amaze me, ever! Paul Rademacher has taken Google maps to a whole new level. Use the above link to look for property for sale and rent in the major cities from Craigslist. I don’t know for sure if Paul realizes the potential of his development but I know of quite a few local and national realtors who would be chomping at the bit to be able to use this technology to show off their listed properties.
Think of the possibilities. Imagine combining the power of the relatively open MLS database with the combination of Google map overlays with nice thumbnails of each property accessible through the map and you have a realty powerhouse that can and will draw millions in revenue and advertising dollars and I am underestimating when I say millions. I just wish I had the ability to build on some of these business opportunities!
[EDIT] Getting Warmer!
If you are looking for a cool plugin to write, I believe that it would be really useful to be able to message inside the Wordpress admin pages. I have multiple authors and I would like to leave them messages which they would see when they log in and be able to leave comments/critiques on drafts and even as a QOTD or an MOTD for all users of the blog.
This idea could be further expanded to share messages within a certain peer group of blogs. If you have my PeerID, you could receive and read internal messages from my blog that were added to your username on my blog. This should be relatively easy to do if login names remain the same across blogs. I imagine that I would log onto my dashboard to see all the messages/comments that people have left for my login on all the blogs that I am a member of. I can see this being very useful in community type blogs and for people that co-author more than one blog.
Anyone think they can execute this?
