Using FeedDemon 101: An interesting step by step screencast on how to download, install and successfully use the excellent FeedDemon newsreader. Not only is the content of interest, the method of delivery (screencast) is also of interest to me. If you know of any good screencasting software/methods, please leave me a pointer. (8)

Simple PHP Gallery: A very simple PHP gallery system that requires GD. Caching, simple upload to folders and a relatively simple install make this one to watch. I see a lot of similarities between this and something I have developed professionally. Could be easily integerated with a Wordpress install.

[EDIT]: Special version of Simple PHP Gallery that is pre-configured to pull the gallery into a Wordpress template.

Three Strikes Spam Plugin Updated 15comments

I want to release a beta version of the Three Strikes Plugin exclusively written for Wordpress 1.5. Newer comment spam features built into the 1.5 code needed to be exploited and this plugin makes use of one such feature.

New features include:

Better Bayesian Filtering - the bayesian code has been updated a little to train better, fixed some bugs
Better training on install - Used some of the new features in WP 1.5 to train the filter at install
More bugfixes and workarounds for Wordpress 1.5

[EDIT] I left a debug statement in the code which would have borked commenting, fixed in the download.

[EDIT] As a suggestion for testers/users of this plugin, get some good and some spam comments first before you install it. The plugin does not work well on brand new blogs, by design.

Weblog Tools Market Share
Weblog Tools Market - Update February 2005: As collected from Google, technorati and a couple of other aggregation sources. The analysis is detailed but the data collection methods are somewhat flawed in my opinion. Hosted services continue to dominate the blogging market but the increase in overall numbers is quite encouraging. There are some interesting takes on this analysis. Livejournal, Typepad and MT together seem to be part of the largest blog provider in the market. Well crafted strategic decisions made by Moveable Type seem to be paying off. Thanks Threadwatch (1)
