I fear there is a new wave of comment spam in the works

If you like this post, please subscribe to our RSS feed to read our new posts every day.

The comment spam floods have subsided very suddenly and it can only mean that the spammers are re-grouping or working on some killer app in the spamming world.
I am afraid that can only mean more trouble for us bloggers. Stay tuned.

  2. I’ve been getting my usual steady stream, which has been nicely handled by Kitten’s Spaminator. I’m sure the spammers are probably going to “punish us” for the rel=”nofollow” nonsense that we are supposed to be so thankful for.

  3. Until today WP-Hashcash had been working great for me. But now when I make a new post to my coffee blog, I instantly get a new spam comment. Creepy! Anyone know how they’re doing this or how to stop it?

  6. Well thanks to all the idiots who put in NoFollow (which does nothing a good comment+trackback spam filter couldn’t do more effectively) on a permanent basis, the spammers will now more likely switch to other methods of comment+trackback spamming that are more difficult to filter. thanks all you G$-lovers out there!
