I (we?) need some ideas for plugins and hacks for WordPress 1.2 There is already an excellent requests page on the wiki which lists some of these. If you have something specific in mind for WordPress (except for multiple blogs) please leave a comment and I will add it to the list on the wiki. I know a couple of people have been looking for “stuff to do” with WordPress and this will satisfy both parties.

  1. Sticky posts, per category. This would allow important announcements (like a big site redesign) to be the first displayed item, or it would allow a more general ‘about this category’ description to be given.

Not essential by any means, but certainly very useful, especially if the importance can be set to either ‘forever’ or a range of dates.

(thanks for all the WP code snippets BTW - they really help kick me along at times !)

  2. A GeoURL type thing ?

    Works like this:
I click the link to the plugin, and get taken to a screen with a world map.
My location is marked with a red dot
The location of the last 10 (or so) visitors is marked with a white dot.

Problem may be nailing the visitors IP down, but even if it was country wide, maybe that would be good enough - say have “The countries this site has been hit by” type thing.
This make any sense whatsoever ? ;)

  3. We have lots of counters we can use, but nothing yet that counts the number of times the feeds have been hit.

    How about something there ?

  5. A password protected blog? Like the one b2 has:

  6. Restricted categories. I’ve found plugins that restrict individual entries, but I want a whole category restricted. I want to be able to display a message to an unregistered viewer who doesn’t have permissions to view - something I can quickly change to say whatever I want to indicate that the post is restricted. Or I can hide the entry completely.

Entry is given based on user level.

Having different levels would be cool, but right now I just need one restricted category.
